Controlinveste, Media group leader in Portugal, and GSoft, Portuguese company specialized in information technology solutions for the media, announced today the go live of Media Vault MAM/DAM platform. This solution will enable about 300 journalists, photographers and editors of Diário de Notícias, Jornal de Notícias and TSF, among others, to access more safely, quickly and easily Controlinveste’s digital contents and also to the hundreds of photos produced every day by Global Images agency. It is estimated that at least about 15 million digital files will be stored in Media Vault MAM / DAM by the end of the year, when the migration process will be complete.
Media Vault MAM/DAM from GSoft is a centralized system for managing and cataloging digital content (Multimedia Assets Management/Digital Assets Management), but is available on every personal computer. The solution allows every employee, depending on its user profile, to search, organize work and personal folders and download all kinds of digital content (photos, news, pages, and publications, among others). These contents exist at the Documentation and Information Center (CDI) of Controlinveste, both in Lisbon and Oporto, which uses the same system to archive, catalog and index all the historical collection, whose scanning is still ongoing. By being integrated with the application for editing newspapers and magazines, it allows sending images to include in the production of publications, and then receive the full edition of the publication to be stored.
Media Vault MAM / DAM plays a key role in the daily work of Global Images, Controlinveste’s photo agency, since hundreds of photos produced every day by photographers and/or external collaborators are received through it. Besides, it enables photo publication in the new site GlobalImagens.pt, which is the technological basis to facilitate and expand the online sale of photographs to third parties, extending Media Vault MAM / DAM to external customers.
According to Gabino Oliveira, Controlinveste’s Board Member, «the Group’s file, dating back to 1924, has an immense wealth and value, but only if we can use it, we and others, through the implementation of business rules, based on digital management of use and publication rights. With this new solution, fully developed in Portugal, and with the joint work with GSoft, it has become possible». Gabino Oliveira added that «by ensuring the reliability, adaptability and speed necessary to our business processes, that are facing a technological revolution and unprecedented consumption habits, this allows us to develop new business areas, in a world increasingly more globalized in that digital is becoming more important as a way of expressing business, culture and information, at the same time we ensure the preservation of our memory and heritage as people and secular language, from the press point of view».
According to Carlos Santos, GSoft’s CEO, «Media Vault’s main benefit is the ability to be tailored to the client’s context, because it’s an application that easily adapts to each client way of work, as it is was built to be fully configurable.», also adding that «on the other hand, this is an open solution that easily allows new developments and integrations with external platforms, being clearly oriented to quickly displaying results on a very extensive amount of information».
